Eyrignac and its Gardens in Salignac-Eyvigues

less than an hour from Camping La Plage in Meyronne

30 km (about 40 min) from Camping La Plage in Meyronne, Eyrignac and its Gardens (in Salignac-Eyvigues) is one of the most iconic sites in Périgord Noir. Visitors come for the elegance of a grand French garden… and to admire the plant sculptures, trimmed by hand.

The visit is a self-guided walk, no reservation required, in a place designed for contemplation and photography.

Topiaries, themed gardens and natural views

The heart of the visit is the 10 hectares of gardens and their 300 topiaries (yews, boxwoods, hornbeams, ivy…), true works of plant art.
You can explore 7 gardens as you wish, then continue with a more natural walk through the 200-hectare forest estate surrounding the manor. It’s a perfect outing if you enjoy walking peacefully, taking in the perspectives, alignments, greenery displays… and the views over the hills of PĂ©rigord Noir.

The estate's heritage

Eyrignac is more than just a beautiful setting: it’s a historic estate around a manor, and a leading site for topiary art in France. The scenography and garden atmospheres (lawns, ponds, fountains, rose garden, flowers and vegetable garden) showcase the mastery of hand trimming and the gardeners’ expertise. The site also offers “themed” visit formats (e.g., with a gardener) for those who want to go beyond a simple stroll.

Different ways to visit

For visits, Eyrignac is first discovered through a self-guided tour, at your own pace, with a garden map provided at reception in 6 languages and explanatory panels throughout the route (history, maintenance, gardening tips). To go further, you can rent an audio guide (€2) and follow the points of interest step by step. The estate also offers more “experiential” formats: a sensory discovery via a visit guide, a guided tour in summer, and for groups/those curious about the expertise, a technical visit with the head gardener (about 1h30, by appointment).
