A visit to an unmissable underground site
An exceptional natural site in the Lot
From our Camping La Plage in Meyronne, set off to discover a magical underground world: the Lacave Caves, nestled in the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park.
Discovered in 1905 by caver Armand Viré, these caves are now among the most spectacular in the Dordogne Valley. It’s an activity we recommend to all our campers—young and old alike—for its fun, educational side and breathtaking visuals.
Giant chambers and unreal scenery
The experience begins aboard a small electric train, then continues with a 1.6 km walk through 12 natural chambers, each more spectacular than the last.
Not to be missed:
- Grand Dome Chamber: a ceiling rising to 60 metres, dizzying in scale,
- Wonders Chamber: illuminated white formations for a magical effect,
- Mirages Chamber: perfect reflections in the underground lakes, like a submerged world.
Facilities and a nature break
To extend your visit:
- A shop: books, souvenirs, minerals, reproductions,
- Picnic areas: shaded and surrounded by nature,
- Perfect spots for photography lovers
We love sending our campers there, especially families. The little train ride and the underground atmosphere are sure to impress!
