Préhisto Dino Parc in Lacave

less than an hour from Camping La Plage in Meyronne

Just 12 minutes (10 km) from Camping La Plage in Meyronne, Préhisto Dino Parc (Lacave) is a family walk through the woods that takes you from the age of the dinosaurs to the first humans. Visits are without booking, with fun, educational signage and an immersive soundscape for total immersion. Allow around 1 hour for the park (or 2 hours if you combine it with the cave visit), ideal for an easy outing to fit into your day.

A life-size immersion

The route takes you along a shaded trail lined with scenes and reconstructions about dinosaurs, designed to capture children’s attention while staying informative. The information along the way helps you understand the species and their lifestyles, turning the visit into a real “discovery” activity to enjoy at an easy pace as a family.

Head into prehistory

After the dinosaurs, Préhisto Dino Parc links to human evolution, following a “Big Bang to the Neolithic” timeline. Along the trail, you follow in the footsteps of the first hominids (from Australopithecus to Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon) all the way to a fully reconstructed Neolithic village. It’s designed for learning as you walk, with clear markers, scenes and around 150 life-size figures, all enhanced by an immersive soundscape that makes the visit truly come alive for children and adults alike.

The park’s cave

Along the Préhisto Dino Parc route, you can also discover the Carbonnières Cave: a spectacular underground visit, highlighted by soft 100% LED lighting that brings out the formations (stalactites, stalagmites, pillars, draperies, “eccentrics”…). The route is very comfortable: around 350 metres of galleries, and above all a path laid out with no steps at all, making it easy to include in a family outing. Bonus immersion: some galleries light up in time with your footsteps, and the visit ends with a sound-and-light show with a poetic atmosphere.
