The Bee House in Rocamadour
less than an hour from Camping La Plage in Meyronne
About 15 minutes from Camping La Plage in Meyronne, the Bee House in Rocamadour is an ideal outing—fun, educational and delicious all at once. You come to learn, be amazed… and leave with some great local products.
This free 300 m² living museum, set opposite the Monkey Forest, opens the doors to the fascinating world of the hive: the queen’s life, the role of the workers, the foragers’ work, how honey is made, and the importance of bees for biodiversity.
A living museum in Rocamadour
The visit is indoors, at your own pace, with several complementary areas: hands-on exhibits, educational explanations, and above all live observation of bees in their habitat. You’ll also pass through a mini screening room (documentaries/videos) and a reading & colouring corner that kids love. It’s an ideal activity when it’s hot or the weather is uncertain, and it’s easy to combine with a day in Rocamadour.
Activities & entertainment
The Bee House focuses on interactivity: games, activities, videos and exhibits set the pace for the visit. Depending on the time of year, the site also highlights special moments for children, such as a drawing competition (especially for ages 3–11). On site, the team and the displays help you understand the essential role of bees, life in the colony, and the hive’s “treasures”.
The shop with hive products
The visit naturally ends at the shop, a real little paradise for food lovers and curious minds, with a very wide range: the site mentions over 140 products linked to the hive and local produce. You’ll of course find different varieties of honey, but also a whole range of hive products to discover: sweets, treats, gourmet creations, gift sets… not to mention a book section to extend the experience with books about bees, beekeeping or nature.
